Training aides for Supervisors and Leads: These handouts give supervisors and leads the tools to provide mini training sessions during regular staff meetings on the Ethics in Public Service Act. Download and print these out and use them at your next staff meeting.

 

 

 

Ethics in Public Service -- EEB 101

 

This four-hour course highlights the Ethics in Public Service Act, RCW 42.52 and WAC 292-110-010, Use of Resources.  Upon completion, the student will have a basic understanding of the ethical standards in place for state employees and state officials.


Ethical concepts will be explained and practical tools provided so state employees will know how to handle ethical issues when they arise in the workplace.  Through the use of hypothetical situations, students will learn what conduct is appropriate and options to take when faced with similar dilemmas in their agency.


The student will also gain a working knowledge of the role of the Executive Ethics Board and the complaint process. 


NOTE: 3.5 CLE ethics credits for government attorneys.


 Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

 

Apply the Ethics in Public Service Act in the workplace

Identify appropriate and inappropriate ethical conduct

Understand appropriate use of state resources

Navigate the ethics website and Board guidance
